The corporation of "Les Ouvriers de Paix" was founded in 1985, following an inspiration received january 9th 1984 while in prayer at the Monastery of "Recluses missionnaires" of Montreal. The inspiration was later translated into a "Rule of life" for these workers. The person to receive the initial inspiration did so, through words spoken by Pope John-Paul II at the Stadium in Montreal, with the Holy Fathers’ encounter with the youth "I wish that your concerns for world peace make of you workers for Peace, begin with your surroundings"...
Two welcome homes – called "Jérusalem" – were opened by the corporation. One at Papineauville at the beginning of the endeavor; the other at Pierreville in 2002 (both presently closed). A communal Café took root at St-François-du-Lac and has remained for more than 3 years the center activity of the corporation.
Consequently established in a rural milieu, and after surmounting many obstacles, the corporation is patiently pursuing it’s social and spiritual endeavors, seeking to be more and more faithful to it’s initial inspiration which gave it birth.
